A general hatha yoga based class which incorporates breath awareness with traditional yoga postures (asanas) to improve your flexibility, fitness and core strength. Each class ends with special relaxation leading to deep meditation. The asanas and breathing techniques practiced in the yoga class help the body to naturally relax and find its own rhythm. At the end of a yoga class participants feel energised, refreshed and better able to meet the challenges of everyday life. This class provides an accessible way to learn the basic postures and breathing techniques of yoga while restoring your energy, strength and flexibility. A great class for beginner and yoga regular who want to continue to practice at a comfortable pace. In the Gentle Yoga class we ensure that you learn the correct way to move into, hold and release the various asanas (postures). We also teach you the correct breathing (pranayama) and encourage questions to improve your understanding. Classes are suitable to most people with reasonable level of fitness who are interested in practicing yoga on a regular basis.
Gentle Yoga Level 1: A great class for those who have just completed the beginners course and wish to gradually integrate into the regular yoga practice. Gentle Yoga level 2 : This class is suitable for those who want to add a little extra challenge to their practice without straining too much.This is a perfect class for those wishing to gain more depth and understanding of the practice and want to move to vinayasa practice. Feel the benefits of engaging the breath while practicing standing and balancing postures, as well as mindfulness in backbends, twists and semi inversions. Modifications will be explored to fit the needs of all participants, new or advanced..The sequences for this class are designed to introduce the participants to the Vinyasa (Flow Yoga practice) by providing modified versions of the poses. The sequences are simple, balanced in variety and, most importantly, provides a safe and approachable stepping stone to the full Flow Yoga class. During this class you’ll be guided through postures in a Vinyasa style, beginning with the basic poses, but allowing for more challenging poses based on your practice level. We encourage use of Props to allow the body to fully achieve each pose comfortably.This is a great class for people looking for a powerful experience, or those who need a change of pace. All participants still have the option to take it to the next level.
Intermediate Yoga/ Power Yoga:Yoga can have a remarkable impact on your mental,physical and emotional health. Whether you are looking at taking your overall fitness to another level or interested in supplementing other weekly exercise, or trying yoga for the first time, or keen on starting a regular personal practice, try this challenging relaxed and fun class to start your week right. Instructed in the hatha style, this is a challenging class , appropriate for people with reasonable good fitness and those who have some previous yoga experience. The majority of the class will involve an active hatha yoga/vinyasa practice, then the last part of the class will integrate restorative poses and guided meditation to help you heal the effects of chronic mental stress and physical ailments. Props such as cushions, blocks, and belts are used so that everyone, regardless of age or ability, can benefit from the yoga poses (props are provided). By learning/practicing the basics of positioning, alignment, and action in the poses, you can achieve a balanced experience of the challenges and restorative healing of yoga.
Our intermediate yoga class is a challenging mind-body workout that involves a combination of postures and dynamic yoga sequences to builds strength, increase flexibility .The postures are vigorous and stretches your muscles and ligaments to tone and strengthen the body. It also incorporates focused breathing exercises and uplifting affirmations that relaxes your mind. Regular practice will help to set your spirit free and reconnect with the your energy.

I hadn't practiced yoga for some year until a friend recommended this place and I thank her for that. I tried hot Yoga classes before in a nearby studio. The place was crowded and no one was there to guide me through the postures, it made me feel sick and inadequate, nope, not my cup of tea. Here I bought the 1 month unlimited pass so I could try as many classes as possible. Best decision ever! It’s been over a year, and I am STILL coming here. The teachers are great.They gives heaps of individual attention and hands-on adjustments. Overall, in my humble opinion, Om Yoga Wellness Centre is the best yoga studio in Western Suburbs, no doubt about it. I am so thankful to Tanya and Viv for showing me the path to yoga again.

My weekly Om Yoga class is like a big unwind from the chaos of life. After 6 months I can notice my increased flexibility and strength, and really look forward to each class.The classes are motivating and there is always something new to do and practice.
Viv's classes are probably the best I've been to. He really takes care to create a class tailored for the group and makes it really interesting and challenging. I have tried many styles of yoga and find this class to be truly extraordinary. It is a great workout, similar in that sense to Vinyasa yoga, but the improvements I have seen in my balance,strength, concentration and flexibility surpass what I typically acheive by practicing those other quite strenuous and faster styles of yoga. I'm impressed by the way Vivek blended a variety of mind-body practices to create a unique style of his own that to me is very holistic . Vivek's focus on exploring how small bodily adjustments and modifications while holding any posture impact the physical dynamics of the whole body, cultivates his students' interest in the process of yoga--not just the resultant benefits. I really appreciate Vivek's efforts to create interesting, purposeful classes. He explains the purpose of each posture and the logic behind the posture sequences. He is polite, articulate, and responsive to individuals' needs. I have been taking this class for a couple of year, and I always leave feeling refreshed and inspired!
Viv has a gift and you will be doing yourself a favor to treat yourself to it. He really listens and keeps the communication happening during the Yoga practice, not to mention he's delightful just to be around. Over a period of 2 years I've taken numerous yoga and meditation classes with him and everytime he brings amazing energy and insight into all his classes .He helps me to re-balance, reconnect, and restore.
