Om Yoga in Brisbane
In order for you to have an enjoyable experience we ask you to consider the following yoga class etiquette :
Remove your shoes as soon as you enter the studio to keep the floor clean. The floor is where you will be spending most of your time.
Bring your own mat. We have mats for use, however, for health reasons we recommend you bring your own mat or you may hire a mat . Please also bring a water bottle and a towel.
Turn off your mobile phone once inside the centre .
Please do not bring children observers or any guest who are not doing yoga into the centre along with you.
Enjoy the silence. Save your socializing for before and after the class, and be considerate of those around you when sighing and breathing during class time. Please observe silence or talk softly once you are inside the yoga room, as many people come to class a few minutes early to de-stress from the day and prepare for practice.
Wear light, comfortable, non-restricting clothing, and keep in mind that all classes are co-ed. Be mindful of fragrances-lotions, perfumes etc., as many people have allergies.
Most teachers understand that sometimes being late is unavoidable. If you arrive late please enter the studio as quietly as possible. Unroll your mat before entering the studio and lay it out quietly when you find your spot. Please do not snap your mat open and make a commotion. This is rude and disturbing to those who were on time and are already centering.
If possible arrive at least 10 minutes before the class is scheduled to start. If you do arrive late, Please don't enter a class if more than 10 minutes late. Wait for the next class or another day.
Your final relaxation in Savasna is an important part of your practice. Please don’t skip it and don't plan to leave class immediately after finishing the posture . If you must leave early please let the instructor know in advance that you have to leave early and leave very quietly.
It is not good to practice on a full stomach. A light snack an hour or so before class is fine.
Inform the instructor of any medical conditions or injuries that you may have for eg a back condition ,migraine, high blood pressure, herniated disk, joint inflamation etc. This information will assist the instructor in modifying postures.
Listen and pay particular attention to instrutions regarding proper alignment not pushing yourself too hard, this is for your own safety and the safety of others in class. There is no room for ego in a yoga class!
Please leave props cushions straps etc. in the mannerly order in which you found them.
